Monday 1st June 1868 - Summoned by his wife, Sophia of assaulting her on 29th May. Always quarrelling, an arrangement was made that he would allow her 12s a week for support of her and her four children. He was to find two sureties of £20 each and bound himself in £50 to keep the peace for six months. The sureties were found and Mr. Chesney was discharged.
Monday 21st September 1868 - Ordered to pay costs of 10s 6d for having a person named Mansseur drinking in the house at 9 a.m. on the morning of Sunday, 13th September.
Saturday  21st November 1868 - Ordered to pay costs of 9s 6d having been accused of grapping hold of p.c. Abraham Miller, by the breast, and roughly handling him whilst he attempted to enter the house on the morning of Sunday 15th November, believing persons were illegally within.
Monday 26th July 1869 - Apprehended on a warrant issued upon a charge of assaulting his wife, Sophia, by hitting her and turning her out of the house on "Thursday last". The parties agreed to separate with Mr. Chastney paying 15s a week to his wife. He was dismissed upon sureties of £40 in himself and two others of £20 each to keep the peace for six calendar months.
