Dates from 1841 ?
James Bracey is a publican with address as Belton Street in 1841. He is named at the Kings Head in 1844 & 1846.
In 1851 he is an innkeeper, but the address is Lockless Lane.

At the Licensing Sessions held in Lowestoft on Monday 23rd August 1852, Robert Rushmere applied for a new licence. Since this was described as merely a transfer from one house in the village (Railway)  to another, there was no objection.

For Sale by Auction Wednesday, 23rd April 1862 upon the instructions of the Executors of Mr. James Duffield, deceased. The property including Pleasure Grounds, Outbuildings, Garden Ground, Arable and Marsh Land.
< James Duffield was a resident of Southtown, "otherwise Little Yarmouth", in the County of Suffolk, farmer.>

Following the death of Mr. D. A. Preston the Freehold Property was to be Sold by Auction Wednesday 6th May 1903.
Mr. W. I. Russell was the successful bidder, obtaining the property for £5,600.
Some 3 Acres of Freehold Marshland, previously part of the estate, was sold to Mr. Bland of Burgh Castle for £80.

The Household Furniture belonging to the late Mr. Preston was to be Sold by Auction Monday 15th June 1903.

Closed after 1974.
Reopening announced in Eastern Daily Press 18.03.1997, `...following completion of extension, interior revamp and remodelling of entrance...'
