On Monday 4th September 1871, the magistrates informed Mrs. Hurst that since her husband had been convicted and fined during the past year, it had been under consideration if they should renew the licence. Under the circumstances they had decided to renew the licence, but with a severe warning that should there be any further complaint against the house, it would be forfeited.
On Saturday 26th August 1882, William Hurd of Emneth arrived at the house at between eight and nine in the morning and ordered a pint of beer. By ten o'clock he had become quarrelsome and refused to leave until twelve o'clock when P.C. Thompson requested he do so. He broke a bottle of beer during this time. The quarrel was said to arise since the wrong change had been given. Owing to an attempt to change the charges from being drunk and disorderly to just drunkenness, all charges were dismissed with the licensee John Thompson called to pay 19s 6d costs.

On Monday 5th March 1906 it was confirmed by Superintendent Flint that the structural defects had been remedied. The licence was renewed.
