RAG & LOUSE FAKENHAM index
QUAKER LANE
A splendid name unearthed by contributor Christopher Pipe - There is unfortunately at this time, only legend to support its past existence.
In 1851 Robert Horsley ( 33 ), Gun maker, is located at Tuns Street - One entry from the Brewers Arms.
In 1856 & 1858 Robert Holsley is dealing in guns and beer - in Quaker Lane
In 1861 Robert Horsley is at Quaker Street - still a gun maker and again one entry away from the Brewers Arms

Could the house name relate to the cleaning of gun barrels?

Thanks 19.02.08 to Leslie Robert Linford-Hazell for the possible connection......
