Saturday 27th August 1870 - Messrs. Morse & Woods applied for a licence for the beerhouse, lately kept by Mr. Ramshaw. Licence application refused, it was presumed because the previous tenant had kept a disorderly house by encouraging a gang of poachers.

Mrs Ramshaw a shopkeeper in 1871. No mention of beer.
Son, John Ramshaw (age 41) a higgler.
