It is said that the first beerhouse licence on the Heath was issued to a farm house opposite the Pit and the licence was later transferred to the Pheasant Cock.

A Mr Tent is believed to have been licensee pre 1864.

Sales in year prior to closure given as 23 5/8 barrels

Licence surrendered 29th September 1952
