Described as a Fully Licensed Inn, Hotel or Public House when offered For Sale by Auction Saturday 16th June 1878.

Mr. E. Silcock, the surviving Partner of the firm of Messrs. John Silcock and Son, Wine & Spirit Merchants, who had taken a large Farm in another County, instructed the Sale of Estate in 12 Lots.

The Wine and Spirit business had operated for upwards of Sixty Years  and held a Wholesale licence and an old Retail licence under the name Gallon Pot.

Lot No. 1 was a newly erected Dwelling House, or Residence, situated in the centre of Town, with Office, Retail Room, capital Wine and Spirit Cellars (of about 2,500 sq, ft), large Stores, Stabling, Carriage and Van Houses, with every other requisite to complete a thoroughly First-class Wine Merchants' Business Premise and rendering all the Goodwill, Wholesale and Retail licenses, rendering the whole as a Fully licensed Inn, Hotel or Public House.

Lot No. 2 being a modern Family Residence.
Lots 3 and 4 were Cottages.
Lot 5. a Barn.
Lot 6. a Pleasure Garden.
Lot 7. a Fruit Garden.
Lots 8. to 12. were Building Plots.
