Formerly the GOLDEN WYVERN or GRIFFIN
NEW INN by 1871

William Webster is given in 1858 & 1861as a butcher & innkeeper at un-named premises - presently believed to be the OSTRICH.

In 1864, 1865 & 1869 he is at un-named premises which appears to be
either the Griffin or New Inn
since another licensee is named at the Ostrich.

By 1871 he is given at the NEW INN as a bear (sic) retailer.

Closure recommended at the First Joint Committee Meeting of Bullards and Steward & Patteson 29th May 1962.
Sales then reported as
17 barrels.
The tenant said to be 70+ years old and
to have been at the house for over 23 years.
