``All that Messe now used as a Public House at West Dereham.
Abutting land known as Spanish Close towards the South and upon footpath called Church Lane towards the West. Upon drove leading to Fen towards the East.'' Tenant given as Eliza Germany.

An indenture dated 01.05.1885 between Eliza Germany and Algernon Roydes Bentley, trading as Elijah Eyres & Co. gives value of £370.
The property said to be a public house with 1 acre 1 pole of land.

The house was sold by A. R. Bentley to Charles Page of Baldock and Emily Page of Snettisham - for £275 - in September 1885.

Eliza Germany said to be still living there in 1914....
