A proposal was made to the town planners November 1997 to convert a former railway station
( Closed by British Rail in 1960's) into a bar, rather than let it be demolished to allow
a supermarket development.
The proposal to turn the old station into a ` Theme Restaurant and Bar'
was approved by the Town Planners January 1998.
£250,000 said to be spent on renovation of the station building prior
to the opening Summer 1998.
