SPADE & BECKET 1898
when landlady Emma Fickling was accused of keeping the house open during prohibited hours.
The Lynn Advertiser of 14th October 1898
reported that a group of men had been observed the previous Sunday, drinking outside the house at 10:45pm. They had been served by Richard Williamson, the defendants son.
Mrs Fickling said that the beer had been drawn off before 10:00pm.
Her son had asked her at 10:30pm if more beer could be drawn and she had said `No'.
Mrs Fickling was fined 10/- with 6/6d costs.

Offered To Let, November 1898, by George William Mills, The Brewery, Downham.
