Samuel Smith is only recorded as blacksmith in 1836 directory & 1841 census


A poster advertises the Halvergate Steeple Chase
to be held 19th March 1840.
A handsome Silver Cup to be presented by the spirited landlord
S Smith of the Steeple Chase Inn.
There was also a silver cup for Poneys (sic)
and a further Match for TEN POUNDS over the Poney Ground.

In 1846 Helena Smith has moved to the Hare & Hounds.
