CROWN WOOD DALLING index

Shown  on Faden's 1797 map as Dalling Crown - south of Thurning Beck Hall
Not mentioned on 1826 map by Bryant.

Mark Igoe advises August 2010:-

( Location )  being much nearer Thurning and just by the beck. The line of road has changed here, probably at the time of the construction of the lake and bridge in 1830. I suspect that the Crown and nearby building were demolished then and the site is under the lake. Trade would then have passed to the Thurning Plough........

Further investigation March 2011 by Mark Igoe gives the possibility that Faden was referring to a building marked on the Briston Road, by 1826 a vanished lane towards Guestwick.
`If this is so, absolutely nothing appears to have survived of the Crown.'

Note a PLOUGH is recorded in Thurning in 1836 & 1846 but not mentioned at other times.
The Wood Dalling PLOUGH can be found from 1836 to closure 1929.
In 1836 & 1846 different licensees are listed at each house.
