Friday, 24th June 1892 - PHILIP Dye,
late of the Jolly Waterman, sued by Ernest Orpen to recover £6 12s 6d in
beer supplies and unpaid rent.
Mr. Dye had only held the house for four months. (He claimed the beer
supplied was 2s a barrel more expensive than from any other upplier)
Mr. Orpen was awarded £1 2s 6d for the beer. |

Fish-office and Cooper's Shop in the Ferry Boat Row, Beerhouse keeper,
Fishcurer and Cooper; then of the Jolly Waterman and Coopers Shop in the
Ferry Boat Row and carrying on the business of Beerhouse Keeper and
Cooper; Now of Row 12, Journeyman Cooper and Labourer...... To appear
before the Judge at the Court in Great Yarmouth on 19th May 1857 .......

WATERMANS ARMS in 1871
The Eastern Daily press of Thursday 17th May 1877
reported that James Allcock had been summoned for having his house open
out of hours. On the Sunday morning previous at a quarter past ten, Police
Constable Johnson visited the house and found four men in the bar, two of
whom had beer. Maria Allcock appeared on behalf of her husband, advising
that he was away. She did not deny the offence and was fined 5/- and
costs.
W. J. Dye applied for a music licence on Thursday 23rd April 1891 -
Refused.
Advertised To Let as advertised in newspapers July to
September 1891.
Lacon's Ale, London Stout and Porter: Immediate possession.
Notice to surrender licence given Friday 6th March 1903.
Licence given up 21st August 1903 in consideration of new premises at Gorleston, the STATION
HOTEL.
