On the evening of Monday 2nd March 1903 a billiard match of 700 up (evens), was held between W. Wilson and T. Stevens. The landlord, Mr. B. Powell, had the satisfaction of seeing his popular room packed with lovers of the game.
Unfortunately neither player were on their best form, each unable to claim an advantage and only at the end, with breaks of 42 and 53, did Wilson win by 91 points.
