On Thursday, 31st March 1892, the Household Furniture, Builder's &
Wheelwright's Stock and the contents of a Smith's Forge were to be Sold,
along with numerous effects of Mr. George Jessup for the benefit of his
creditors.
( Upon conclusion of the auction, fisticuffs broke out between two
attendees. Farmer, Henry Brewington was knocked to the ground for
refusing to give labourer Henry Lanchester a penny for beer. On
Wednesday, 13th April 1892, Lanchester was sentenced to 14 days with
hard labour and ordered to pay 20s costs, in default, a further 14
days.)
