On Tuesday 19th February 1839, Henry Medlar was convicted on the information of Mr. Fish, Churchwarden of Hevingham, in the full penalty of £10 and costs, for having on the evening of Sunday 10th February, wilfully and knowingly permitting drunkenness and other disorderly conduct in his house, contrary to the tenor of his licence; this being his second offence. £5, half the penalty, was awarded to Mr. Fish who expressed his intention to contribute the same to the parish subscription for purchasing coals for the poor of Hevingham.
