The Bull (Now a tenement) advertised for sale, 3rd September 1785.

At midnight on 24th October 1887, Police-constables Claxton and Page saw lights on in several rooms and heard people talking within. They knocked on the door and received the reply "You are not coming in; there's no one want you". The policemen watched the house for a quarter of an hour and then Claxton gained entry through a rear door. Inside he found the licensee and his two sons. James Neal said he had refused entry since he believed it was a tramp knocking on the door.
On Tuesday 8th November he was fined £1 and 15s costs and his licence was endorsed.
