At the Annual Licensing Meeting held Saturday 28th August 1869 the licence of Mr. Garnett was refused owing to keeping a disorderly house. However he must have soon regained the licence since he appears to be at the house to at least 1879. Only found named in 1869 licensing report, Steward & Patteson business report ref BR 1/148, 1911 census and in 1912 licensing session report. It was agreed 9th July 1888 that the house could open at 4:00 am instead of 6:00 am from July 9th to September 10th, for the ingathering of the hay and corn crops. Referred to Compensation Authority at licensing meeting of March 1910. On Monday, 6th February 1911, renewal of licence was adjourned until the meeting of 6th March. Referred to the Authority for closure with compensation, Wednesday 27th September 1911. Although amount of compensation had been fixed by the authorities, it had still not been paid by February 1912, so it was assumed that the licensees would be making application for provisional licenses. This seems unlikely since according to S&P records they sold the property in 1911. |
