Mr. Cyril Alfred Brumfit of the Central Hotel was charged, Thursday
1st February 1934 of leaving his car in Guildhall Street, Thetford,
without lights. Case dismissed on payment of costs of 4s.

It was heard at the Licensing Session, Thursday 6th March 1930 that Mrs.
Brumfitt had purchased the Central Hotel about 10 years previously and
now sought to obtain an excise licence for the benefit of her guests.
There would be no bar trade. The Reverend Lowry, the ministers of the
town and two Anglican clergymen objected to the licence.
Application refused.

The Thetford Fire Brigade Dinner was held
here for many years.
At the January 1929 gathering it was said that the one thing the
Brigade lacked was a motor-engine.
By 1936 the horse-drawn engine had been replaced with a
motor-engine and new equipment included a telescopic ladder and
850 feet of hose. The tender had been fitted with solid tyres.
On the evening of 14th January 1937.
Following the meal and the usual toasts, songs were sung, with
Mrs. Greenough at the piano. Mr. Bean gave a bone solo.
At the 1938 dinner it was said that the Brigade was at last in
sight of a new motor fire engine |
