It was said that he had occupied the house for 19 years and never summoned for mismanagement. Application refused. Charles Doubleday applied to the Licensing Justices, Monday, 2nd March 1931 for authorisation to sell wine for the convenience of his lady customers, whose only alternative refreshment would be beer or stout.
