Found by Charlotte Paton September 2013 and February 2016 :-

James Wallbut and Martha Mee who were married in West Bilney on January 1st 1692/3 lived in the dwelling known as the Ale House.

Elizabeth Freke, who lived in the local "big" house 1686 to 1714 wrote in her diary that she had "left her house and goods in the care of James Wallbutt then my servant and after my cheating tenant."

On 6th September 1704 Elizabeth Freke wrote:-
"I had one of my best houses in the parish burnt down, James Walbutt sold ale in which tho full of company and several of my servants in it, none knew it was on fire til ready to fall down."
