Monday 3rd June 1867 - Fine of £2 and 19s 6d costs having been charged of assaulting Mr. George Ware, Superintendent of Police following a dinner held on the pervious Friday night/ Saturday morning.

  Continuation of licence granted 15th September 1856 with support from neighbours and people who frequented the house.  
 
 
  20th September 1856 -
James Fiddaman thanked his Friends for their patronage and advised that he would be making extensive improvements by having a commodious and well fitted up Coffee Room in the front of his house.
 
 
 
  Following the Regatta, a dinner was held for the rowing teams on the night of Friday 1st  June 1867.
As the party broke up in the early hours, a noisy disturbance took place between the rival crews from Cambridge and London. The police attended, to which Mr. Fiddaman objected. In the ensuing argument, the Superintendent of Police, received a blow to the mouth.
In the Magistrates Court on the Monday, there were no written charges but Mr. Fiddaman admitted that he was liable to a fine for his actions.

Address as 11 Grass Market when John Jackson announced 16th November 1850 that having been in the Wholesale business for the previous 20 years, he had just reclaimed a Retail Licence to his Establishment. He offered the Best London Stout & Porter, Edinburgh Ales in Bottle or Draught, Pale Ale, Devonshire Cider, Black Beer, Best British Wines and Cordials, Cigars of the Finest Quality and at the Lowest Price, Teas of every description and the Best London Vinegar.

The Annual Christmas Club (draw) was to take place on 13th December 1867. There were 4,500 members who had paid 2s each.
There were twenty-five vouchers for £2, twelve for £1 or six for 11s, which were ready for purchase in November from the Hotel.
The prizes to be awarded were:-
Three fat Bullocks,
a useful Horse, rising 5 years,
Three fat Sheep,
Three fat Pigs,
and 115 valuable other Articles.
