The Jolly Farmers closed permanently May 1954 and it was advised, one month later (4th June 1954), that the property would be sold by auction in the near future.
It was said that Mr. William Utting had notice to quit and was hoping to obtain a licence elsewhere, but had not yet been successful. He and his family had previously run a boarding-house at Cromer and the Jolly Farmers had been their first venture into the licensing trade.

Licence removed to RAILWAY TAVERN 12.03.1954

The last licensee, William Utting, remained at the house after closure until the tenancy of the CARPENTERS ARMS, Scarning became available. He took on that licence Friday 5th November 1954

Note: Two licensees are given in 1890, but no order of service has yet been determined.
