Broken into Sunday 1st December 1781, by two villains, who appeared to be chimney-sweeps, one an
elderly man in a thread-bare duffle coat and the other a young man with a
long slop that reached to the calves of his legs. They stole a gun, a
large silver watch, a pair of cased buckles, a large table cloth, 2/6d in
silver and about 18d in halfpennies. - Crime report 8th December 1781.
Licence "Surrendered by S&P at time of removal of licence.
WHITE HORSE, Edgefield ''.
According to note in the licence register.
This possibly relates to the upgrading of the
WHITE HORSE licence to a full licence, but
the licence register for that house suggests that the house had a full licence from at
least 1878.
Became Crown Cottages.
