On Wednesday 2nd January 1828 the Wheelwright's Equipment and Stock in Trade of Mr. James Malt, St Germans, was to be Sold by Auction since he was declining the Wheelwrighting Business. (To become a publican?)

All the Household Furniture, Bed and Table Linen,  Wine, Spirits, Cyder and other Effects of Mr. William Chesson were to be Sold by Auction, Thursday and Friday 20th and 21st February 1823.

Above Sale possibly delayed, or only partially successful because -
All the Household Furniture, Bed and Table Linen, China, Glass, Earthen Ware and other Effects of Mr. William Chesson were to be sold here Wednesday and Thursday, 2nd and 3rd April 1823. (No mention of any alcohol)

(A William Chesson was committed to Swaffham Prison, December 1824, for six months, for a "minor Misdemeanor". Same person as previously at the Chequers?)


On Monday 5th March 1906, Messrs. Hogge & Seppings confirmed that they were undertaking certain alterations to meet the wishes of the Bench and the Police. It was said that the rear of the Post Office was enclosed with the licensed premises.
